ABOUT THE AUTHORS AND PUBLISHERS Vena Luthey attended El Conservatorio Nacional de Musica in Panama, has a BA in voice, an MA in bilingual education, a California teaching credential (K-8), an adult teaching credential, a Bilingual Certificate of Competency (BCC), and Kodaly training. For 32 years she has worked in the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) as a teacher of ESL, 1st grade, Kindergarten and music, and as a pre-K -6th grade bilingual music resource teacher, Title VII Language Through Music (L TM) program coordinator, and a teacher trainer/presenter for local, state and national conferences. Vena is currently at 10 Title I schools implementing LETME (Language Enrichment Through Music Experiences). Vena sang with the William Hall Chorale for 16 years, is a church soloist, and directs the Carol Choir at Pasadena Presbyterian Church. She is a past Bravo Award nominee and a 1997 finalist for the Rotary Club's Teachers of Excellence Award. Julia Ray is the author of a number of previous works in education, a guitarist, a singer/songwriter, a past Bravo Award nominee, recipient of the Apple Award. In 1999, she was selected as Outstanding Music Educator of the Year by California Music Educators' Association, Southern Section. Paulette Miller holds a BA in music performance (harp), an MA in music education, a California teaching credential (K-8), a Language Development Specialist certificate (LDS), and Orff-Shulwerk certification. For many years she was a curriculum writer, music consultant, and mentor teacher for the Yamaha Music Schools. For the past 21 years, she has taught with LAUSD, 12 years as a classroom teacher in bilingual classes and 9 years as a music teacher. Currently, she is a music/language resource teacher at Logan Street Elementary in LAUSD and adjunct faculty in music education at California State University , Los Angeles (CSULA) and UCLA. She has also frequently served as a teacher trainer/presenter at local, state, and national conferences. As a harpist she plays professionally with her husband, David Miller, a flutist, and their daughter, Juliette Miller, a vocalist.
